Happy New Year! At the beginning of 2018 I wrote down a list of goals that I wanted to accomplish throughout the year. This year I wanted to publicly share my goals for 2019. Seeing 30+ goals for the year can seem daunting at first, but knowing that you have a year to reach those goals brings me a sigh of relief. Some of my goals were simple, like “buy a drone” and others were year long goals like “start a blog” or “grow out my hair”. For the one-and-done goals, I like to cross them off when timing makes the most sense. I didn’t want to buy a drone in the dead of winter because the climate can affect its ability to fly. I purchased my drone in the spring when I was ready to start flying it and could get the most use out of it. Starting a blog and growing my hair were year long goals. Starting a blog included lots of research, lists, and preparation since I had a specific idea in mind and wanted to make it right. Growing my hair out meant regular trims, using the right products on my hair, and not using heat on my hair if I didn’t need to. I want to share some of my 2019 goals that you’ll be seeing on my blog and Instagram throughout the year.
Take more photos
If you don’t already know, I love photography and getting my perfect shot. I’ll still take creative shots of our travels, home decor, fashion, flatlays, etc., but want to start taking more photos “in the moment” and incorporate them with my styled photography. I envision taking more photos at dinner with Jason, our weekends together, celebrating family birthdays, holidays, and us at events. Photos are such a great way to remember moments in time and I know 50-60 years down the road I will want to look through photos of our life together. I’d much rather take a picture that’s not that great vs. not having the shot and wishing I did!
Get back on YouTube
Back in college I vlogged and filmed sit-down videos regularly and LOVED it. I’ve been kicking myself for stopping but also thanking myself because I’m now at the point where I can create high-quality content that I’m proud of sharing instead of just vlogging to have something to post. I also think my life is a little bit more exciting and has more variety now that I’m out of college, so my content will be more enticing than it was a few years ago. I filmed a few vlogs in 2018 but still wasn’t ready to make it priority with everything else I had going on. I’ve been working on YouTube plans for 2019 and how I’ll incorporate that with the content I’m already sharing on my blog and Instagram. I plan to keep each platform different, in the sense that since I’m sharing my 2019 goals in a blog post, I won’t be making a video with the same content.
Video provides a different type of experience from photos. As much as I love photos, I love video just as much and think each has their own perks. I always watch home movies from when I was a kid and am excited knowing that our future children (and us when we’re older) can look back on what we were doing when we were younger. I hope you’ll follow along with my YouTube journey and enjoy the content I post over there! You can subscribe to my channel here!
Travel more in 2019 than we did in 2018
Jason and I love to travel and want to continue taking advantage of our practically open calendar while it’s still just the two of us. We went on 11 trips to 14 different cities which was more than we travelled in 2017 (this was a goal for us in 2018 too! You can see a travel recap here). We’re starting off the New Year strong by heading to Los Angeles this week! The only other trips that we have booked are to Waco and Las Vegas (surprise, lol!) but have several others in the works and we just need to hammer out the details. Our plan is to travel every 4-6 weeks this year!
Release Lightroom presets
I get questions everyday about what presets or filters I use, what apps I use to edit, and how I get a bright white look in all of my photos. I edit every photo in Lightroom individually and will be releasing presets in 2019! I’m so excited to share some editing tips with you guys as we approach the launch of my presets, so be sure to check back for those!
Connect and collaborate with you guys
One of my favorite parts of having a platform online is connecting with people who I wouldn’t have the chance to meet otherwise! I have met some close friends through Instagram and love the connections we’ve made! I want to continue growing my community of online friendships including local Indianapolis girls! I have some ideas for 2019 that will cultivate local connections and can’t wait to get these started!
Transform my in-home office
My office has been set up around my party decor business – shelves with shipping supplies, a craft table for making products, a desk for my cutting machine, and shelves stocked with materials. As I bring my party decor business to a close, I want to transform my office into a space that fits with my blogging and photography career. I don’t have a perfect vision for the space yet, but hope to start working on this room in the spring.
The start of a new year is full of excitement, anticipation, and goals we can’t wait to reach. I look forward to everything this year will bring and love that you are following along with me! Cheers to a wonderful 2019!
